I have rosacea and really dry sensitive skin and I find it difficult to find moisturisers that work on me. I've tried a number of supermarket products which all seem to rub off on my face
without soaking in. I've tried Clinique Moisturiser which doesn't rub off but doesn't relieve dryness either and seems to make me initially more red. I've tried E45 cream that feels SO heavy and oily and rubs off on my skin, irritates the redness and doesn't relieve the dryness.
I am currently undergoing laser hair removal on my face
and feels lovely, but they obvcourse charge a fortune for it. I have googled around and found Arnica gel on many other websites, such as www.arnica.co.uk and was wondering whether I can use it purely as a moisturiser? The website doesn't mention its moisturising properties. Thank you.
Hello,
Arnica contains the toxin helenalin, which can be poisonous if large amounts of the plant are eaten, and contact with the plant can also cause skin irritation. So it is to be used after a dermatologist’s prescription.
You can also use aloe vera as moisturizer. Also apply calamine lotion along with the prescribed medicines as it helps in soothing the skin.
If the symptoms persist then topical mild steroids may be needed for which I suggest you to consult a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
