Rug burn scars

Rug burn scars

Hi, I experienced some rug burns(a bit bigger than an average fingernail) on my back a bit more than a year ago. It started to bleed and scab, but began to heal nicely. After the healing was over, it left a dark/brownish blotch on my skin. There was another one as well ( around 1 inch in diameter), but this one also made the skin elevate, thick, and a bit rough. As I said before, it's been more than a year since this has happened, but these scars never went away, but only faded bit. There's also been some dark hairs growing specifically on that elevated part of my skin, but nowhere else on my back; could this be some sort of sign? My question is, can these scars be healed? Is there anything to make it less noticeable? Or will there be a permanent brown blotch on my skin?

~Thanks in advance.

Hi

This has been present for quite sometime already. Keloids usually present as scars that are elevated. Are you a keloid former ? As this can help explain one of the scars that you have noted to be raised.

Scars may improve in time. However, it may take quite some time for scars to smoothen. This depends on the depth and the extent of the scar. Apply vitamin E over the area. Other moisturizers may also help. Moisturizers smoothen the affected areas but they will not resolve the scar or revert this to normal skin.
