STD scare

by dobahaja, Apr 21, 2005 12:00AM
Hello - I'm a 33 yr. old American male, married and working in China. Over the past year, I have gone to a number of massage parlours, where they occassionally offer more than a massage.  In late January, I had sex with a massage lady on two separate occasions - both times wearing a condom. And in February and about 2 weeks ago, I received unprotected felatio at such a place. A week ago, I had protected sex again at such a place.

My question: Over the past 4 days or so, I have developed a slight itch on both my testicals and on the bottom shaft of my penis (though the shaft itch is very slight). Though no real redness or overt signs on the testicals or shaft to suggest irritation. I also have some mild sensitivity - hurts to rub against my boxers - on the top of the head and the bottom of the head of my penis. I have read numerous details on various STD's and symptoms online. I do have some mild scaliness on the bottom of my shaft and some wrinkley skin that could, possibly look like a small bump, but nothing obvious that would imply herpes or hpv. And no odd discharges that would suggest Chlamydia or Ghoneria...

I am hoping that guilt is catching up with me, and that this is teaching me a lesson to quit doing such stupid activities - but would be curious as to your advice based upon the descriptions above. And finally, how confidential are doctors supposed to be for such tests. I will obviously need to have a serious discussion with my wife if I have in fact contracted something, but I'd like to be the one to do it rather than a doctor making a call and such...

Thank you for your advice.

I think you have irritation plus guilt.  I can't address the level of confidentiality in China, but it would be a good idea for you to have an examination and testing if needed.  Your symptoms in fact don't suggest any STD very strongly.  As to avoiding massage parlors in the future, I leave it to your good sense to act on your own suggestion.....
