Safety of hydrocortisone..down there

I have to use 1% hydrocortisone a couple of times a week on my perineum/anal area due to a patch of annoying eczema. I have been to the doctor a number of times and they confirm each time its eczema. I minimize symptoms by being extra hygenic, not using harsh soap and moisturizer. Everytime I buy the cream (1% hydrocortisone)  I have to say Im applying it somewhere else as its not supposed to be applied there - there seems to be a lot of conflicting information on the dangers of mild hydrocortisone (albeit the ones claiming the worst side effects are all selling 'natural-alternatives') - it seems to do the job well, so any information on the risk of side effects or absorption would be useful

Topical steroids are the standard treatment of eczema, but they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist. They have many potent side effects like atrophy skin, skin thinning , telangiectasia etc. In eczema, symptoms can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.
