I frequently get some kind of scaling on the skin underneath my fingertips, and even little painful cracks in the corners where the edge of the nail meets the skin (not on the cuticle, but on the fingertip). However, in the last two days, my finger tips have begun to split on three of my fingers along the fingerprint. I don't believe it is related to dry skin as it is only happening on one hand and I frequently apply lotion. Could this be a fungus and should I consult a dermatologist?
