I have a problem of scalp irritation which deteriorates after a go out and catching up dirt & pollution. I generally shampoo my hair after every 2 days to keep it clean, and dont even keep my hair oily for it to not attract dirt. Kindly advice on what should I do to get rid of this.
This may be a case of seborrheic dermatitis. The exact cause of seborrheic dermatitis is not well established however it has been associated with a yeast infection. I would suggest that you have scalp scrapings microscopically evaluated to ascertain if a fungal infection is present. Washing the scalp with medicated shampoo like selenium sulfide twice a week may be able to help. In between , frequent and vigorous washing with regular shampoo may also be able to help. I would suggest you avoid prolonged exposure to heat or extreme temperatures.
Seborrheic dermatitis is recurrent .Do expect this to recur from time to time given the presence of stress and the right triggers.
