Scalp Lesions

I have a scalp condition that I have been told is pseboric dermatitis, but so one seems able to control it. There seem to be about 4 sores that do not react to any medication. I am currently using prescription, Selenium Sulfide 2.5% shampoo, Clobetasol .05% ointment, and Clobetasol Proprionate .05% solution. I have also tried Ketoconisole Shampoo, and spray.

I recieved considerable abuse as an infant and child, and wonder if it is scars that are getting inflamed. The inflamation (inflammation) produces considerable depression of the area involved and one of them seems like it could penetrate clear to my skull.

I tried Dr Janet Roberts here in Portland and she seemed more interested in my hair loss and not what I wanted to address. I am 62 years old, and a Male to Female Transgendered person. I am post op and take Vivelle Dot .1 for my HRT. I take Aspirin to reduce blood clots,

At this point, I will seek another Doctor or perhaps go to OHSU to seek help. I am a Veteran and have seen the Dermatologists there, and they seem unable to figure it out. I would appreciate any advice you can offer.

Thank you.

In general, sores on the scalp come from picking, not from seborrhea.  And no, they don't penetrate clear to the skull.  If you leave them alone, they will heal completely.  If you don't leave them alone, no medication will help.  You can confirm this with a dermatologist in person once you have left the sores alone 100% for a full month.

Best.

I don't agree with you that I am picking at them, but I will try very hard not to touch them for a month to follow your advice.

Thank you
