Scar on Face

My son hurt his chin a month ago, although the wound healed it has left behind an ugly scar on his face. Could you please recommend some cream that will help get rid of the scar.

Thanks.

Since the wound is relatively fresh yuo can wait a while before you decide to do any thing .

In a few months time you will know exactly the color and the shape of the scar and how it is going to look for the rest of his life.
Usually tissue re-modelling goes on for months at the site of an injury, so the final result will show after some time.

You can decide on a course of action in six months to a years time.

It is not a hypertrophic scar. However the black mark around the wound looks dominant, showing off as an ugly scar on his face.

Dermabrasion is another option. They will pretty much "sand off" the scar tissue on your son's face and new tissue will surface.

Hi,
Scars are areas of fibrous tissue that replace normal skin (or other tissue) after injury.
By ugly if you mean a disfiguring scar, like one that  causes the scar to be raised above the surrounding skin, then it could be a hypertrophic scar.

There are no medicated creams to remove scars, you have other options like surgery, where scars can be cut out and stitched up, a process called scar revision.

Laser surgery & resurfacing or Steroid injections are other options.A long term course of steroid injections under medical supervision, into the scar may help flatten and soften the appearance of keloid or hypertrophic scars.
