Scar on face

Dr. Rockoff-
I had some light cystic acne in my twenties.  I was prescribed Triaz and a sodium sulfacetamide and sulfur lotion to treat it.  The treatment worked, but some of the blemishes despite the fact that I didn't touch them have left light but noticeable red marks on my cheek.  The marks are easily covered up by concealer, but I have become frustrated that they have not faded and I want to find a way to get rid of them.  There is two noticeable one rather close together on my cheek bone.  Is there any kind of skin bleach that I can use or is laser treatment my only option?  I am a college student and I am looking for as inexpensive a solution as possible.  You were the doctor that prescribed the acne treatment in the first place and that was so successful that I was hoping that you would have a good solution to this after effect.  Please let me know what some remedies could be or if this is something I should schedule an appointment for. thanks and happy holidays!

If the marks have lasted for a long time (more than six months) after the acne went away, then it's not likely that any cream will get rid of them.  For red marks, a non-invasive laser treatment may well get the job done, without major expense or risk.  If the marks are indented, more invasive laser procedures may need to be considered.  I advise a consultation with someone experienced in laser treatments.  Such consultations are usually free, or inexpensive.  That way you'd know where you stand.

If the marks have only been there less than six months, you're better off waiting them out.

Best.
