Scar removal

by cwolf5206, Feb 22, 2009 02:18PM
I recently had a glass window break on my wrist leaving me with two one inch scars between my wrist and forearm area.  The scars are a purplish in color.  They are very embarrassing when I wear short sleeves. I have been applying Mederma twice a day and was wondering if there was any other recommendations besides laser treatment to remove the noticeable appearance?

Thank you,

Cory George

HI Cory,

Aside from laser treatment to remove the scar, there are other options such as topical medications and even surgical methods such as excision of the scar with closure, grafts, or expanders. There are a lot of factors that need to be considered for scar revision including the maturity ( lesser symptoms)  of the scar.  For scar revision, have this evaluated by a plastic surgeon for proper management. Take care and regards.
