Scar

Hi -

I had a mark on my abdomen that was removed for a biopsy more than 10 years ago as a precaution.  The biopsy was negative and the scar that remained was barely noticeable.

Over the last several weeks the scar has become raised and incredibly itchy (not sure which came first but perhaps it's raised because I've been scratching?).  It doesn't look like it's increasing in size and it's relatively uniform in shape and color.  Is there anything that could be causing this which would require more serious attention than an anti-itch lotion?

Hello,
It can be dermatitis skin which can be causing this itching. However it is advisable to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist and get hypertrophic scars or keloids ruled out. They may itch.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
