Scrotum itchy

by philrod, Mar 21, 2005 12:00AM
Hi,
I had a protected intercourse and after 8-10 days my scrotum was feeling itchy and painful. It seems that each hair follicle on my scrotum is white and inflamed. I'm wondering if i didn't catch any STD or something like that. Is it something contagious ? What treatments exist for that ?
I was treated for fungus on the penis sometime ago (with miconazole nitrate 2%), but i don't think it's related.
Thanks a lot of your help.

I think what you are calling white and inflamed follicles are in fact normal cysts that occur in this area.  The itch is either from irritation or worry.  My advice is to treat the itch with nothing more than gentle cleansing and a moisture lotion.  If the symptoms persist for more than a week, see a doctor--and ask about the white spots while you're there--but this does not sound like an STD.

Best.
