Sebborheic Dermatitis

Can someone tell me what does the dermatologist do when taking a skin biospy for Sebborheic Dermatitis?  Does it leave a permanent scar?  Also, can someone tell me how the fungal culture is done to confirm Sebborheic Dermatitis?  Are there any other tests to confirm Sebborheic Dermatitis?  Tried meds and OTC products prescribed by derms and docs.  This has been going on for a long time.  Not working. Want to confirmation that it is Sebborheic Dermatitis and not something else.

Seborrehic dermatitis is usually diagnosed by history and physical examination. Sometimes biopsy skin is done. Your doctor may scrape cells off your skin and examine them under a microscope or take a skin sample (biopsy) for detailed analysis in a laboratory. It is not painful and does not lead a bald scar if done as superficial shave biopsy.

Fungal culture and KOH examination to rule out any fungal infection are also done. Treatment usually involves use of antifungal, anti inflammatory and sebo suppressive or Keratolytic ingredients. Dermatologist also recommends the use of photodynamic therapy which involves the usage of UV- A, UV- B laser and red or blue LED light to inhibit the growth of the yeast and reduces the inflammation.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
