Seborrheic Dermatitis odd question

Seborrheic Dermatitis odd question

Hi,

I have been getting electrolysis on my face and have recently been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if the Seborrheic dermatitis may have been caused by the damaging of the hair follicles. I have very mild seb derm but it flares up about four days after an electrolysis session on my face.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,
Seborrehic dermatitis is usually caused by overgrowth of Malassezia furfur. This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates and is aggravated by sweating and humidity. It is not caused by electrolysis in your case.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hi,

The only reason I have thought this is because m seb derm only started when I had electrolysis. So I thought there may have been a connection to the hair follicles being damaged. My seb derm only ever flares up after I have had electrolysis. It flares up on day 5 after electrolysis to a tee and then dissapears by say day 14. This is why I was wondering if there is any connection to the damaging of hair follicles...

I have been to a doctor and have had all other factors eliminated and they have said it could be due to stress.. The only reason I am question this theory is because if it was due to stress the seb derm would appear sporadically, but in my case it appears to a timetable???

I have mild seb derm.

Your opinion on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks
