Seborrheic dermatitis I think, but....

Hello Dr.- Thank you in advance for your advice and this wonderful service you provide.

...About 3 weeks ago I noticed a rash in my left armpit. A day or two after that, it became very itchy. That lasted maybe 3 days. After the itch went away, I noticed the smell emanating from my underarm was terrible! I had stopped using deodorant under that arm to help with the itching, but this smell was much worse than typical B.O.

I read your reply to another person on this forum where you said it was most likely seborrheic dermatitis. I followed your advice to him and am using hydrocortisone cream. It has been two weeks for me using Selsun Blue on my armpit during my morning shower, and the hydrocortisone cream in the morning and at night before bed. The redness is gone (though still visible), and the smell initially went away.

About 2 days ago I noticed the smell is back again even though I'm back on deodorant. It is offensive, but not nearly as bad as the original "road kill rotting in the sun" smell.

Also, throughout this entire ordeal the only symptoms I have had are the redness, itching in the beginning, and the bad smell. I have seen none of the scaling, flaking, etc that all of the websites say is a symptom.

Is it possible I have something else? Or can you have this problem with many of the symptoms missing?

I should probably add that my wife gets 8 or 9 yeast infections per year. Good that be what this is?
