Second Opinion

Several months ago I noticed a skin coloured bump mid way down on the shaft of my penis. At first maybe I thought it was an ingrown hair. After another 2 months when it was still there and slightly more prominent. There was no pain, discharge or discomfort. I went to my doctor, he thought it might be a genital wart and referred me to a sti clinic.

I went to the clinic gave blood and urine samples and all tests came back negative. On looking at the lump the nurse said it might be a wart, but I kind of put the words in her mouth, by mentioning what my doctor had said.

I am not sure it is a wart for a few reasons:
I have never had sex without a condom, which makes it seem a most unlikely place to get a wart (midway on the shaft rather than the base.
I had not had sex in nearly a year before the wart emerged and not since.
It does not look like any pictures I have seen.

I have looked at some of the other common conditions, but I am still unsure what it is, I would like to know what it is for sure and if there is any treatment(s) available. Is there anywhere I can upload a picture for inspection as I think that would be the best way to be sure.

Help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Dermatology Expert Forum!

Flesh-colored penile “bump” (papule/micropapule) without any other symptom could be several things including a skin tag, mollusca, genital wart, epidermoid cyst, physiological variation, etc. Therefore, if it is clinically unclear, a biopsy would be a standard diagnostic tool to differentiate.

FYI - It is possible to carry HPV virus without clinical manifestation for years. Also, it is possible to acquire HPV infection even if you use protection (low possibility).
