Severe Keratosis Pilaris, now spreading on face

Severe Keratosis Pilaris, now spreading on face

I am 34 years old and have severe KP on upper arms, upper legs and buttocks.  I am indian and the bumps are pigmented, so it looks like I have spots on my skin.  I have tried exfoliation and many creams (Eucerin, Amlactin, Attrac-tain) with little improvement.

I can live with the the rough, pigmented skin on my body, however, it is now starting on my face.  The facial bumps have been present for about 5 months with no improvement.  Fortunately, they are skin colored, small hard bumps.  I fear they will become pigmented over time.

I have not tried exfoliating creams or other treatments on my face because I have incredibly sensitive skin.  Every facial product I have ever tried (make-up, sunscreen, face lotions, etc.) makes me either break out in cystic acne or a fine, itchy rash.  I am currently using Origins product line with tolerable results.  However, some of their products cause the skin reactions

Hello,
Keratosis pilaris occurs when the human body produces excess keratin, a natural protein in the skin. There is currently no known cure for keratosis pilaris, however, there are effective treatments available which make its symptoms less apparent. Treatment includes tretinoin or Triamcinolone cream or Adapalene, a retinoid medication. Exfoliation, intensive moisturizing creams, creams and lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids and urea may be used to temporarily improve the appearance and texture of affected skin.

In my opinion you should talk to a cosmetologist/dermatologist about this and get these evaluated. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
