Severe Penis Chaffing or What?

jj2
I'm 36 years old and have a circumsized penis.  I was diagnosed with Herpes about 10 years ago.  I have been fortunate enough to only have one or two physically visible outbreaks per year.  Starting about a year ago I noticed that after having sex with my wife, I was developing what I would describe as 'severe chaffing' in various areas in the top half inch area of my shaft right under the head of my penis. Almost always it occurs like a partial ring under the lip of the circumcision, but also in some small 'spotchy' areas a little further down (small irregular or circular shaped areas just under the circumcision lip - which I believe is coincidentall the widest part of my penis)  At one time the tip of my penis also seemd to get irritated and red like it had a rash, but that hasn't happened in a while.

At first I of course thought it was the beginning of a herpes outbreak but in all cases blisters never developed nor did I have other signs of an outbreak (swollen lymph nodes, etc.)  The severity of the chaffing varies from the next day what appears to be a very thin layer of dry, flakey, dead skin peeling away to other times the skin is so raw that a scab forms and there may be some very slight bleeding.  I essentially have to not have intercourse or masturbate for about 3-5 days (depending on the severity) or so to let it heal, then it is completely gone.

The thing that baffles me is that my level of sexual activity has not increased in the past 10 years, my partner hasn't changed, yet I don't recall this happening before, at least with any regularity and now it seems it is happening about 80%-90% of the time I have intercourse.  I have a rubber penis sleeve that is used for masturbation that has also caused the irritation but frankly it could have been just exaserbating something that hadn't healed completely since the last time I had intercourse.  It's almost like I'm getting a rash of sorts but the severity is definitely directly related to the amount/duration of friction during intercourse or masturbating.  Is there some type of cream I can try to rule out that it is some type of excema or fungul infection that I am reactivating?  Or is this quite common that a man's penis skin can become more sensitive with age.  The only other thing that I can think of that has changed is that my wife got her IUD removed and went back on birth control pills possibly  around the same time this started happening.  Maybe the pill has changed the PH in her vagina or something?

I am 24 year old Male. Circumcised.

1 year ago I went to the doctor with a wart above my penis. The exact location is right inbetween the pubic hair area and the penis. Ironically, I had just received my std test results on the phone and danced around the room at the happiness of hearing 'negative.' I decided to go to the shower and celebrate at the feeling of cleanliness. Sure enuff, time to clean the last part of me, and I find this wart. I freaked out, picked at it, and ripped it at the side a bit. Bad idea. It started to bleed. I went to the doctor. She diagnosed me with a 'Flat-Head' wart. This was understandable to me because growing up I've had several flat-head warts burned off of my hands, body, etc. Weeks went into months and eventually I noticed one or two popping up here or there. I've had 8 in the passed year (to todays date). All of them are gone, but since I've been going to the dermatologist he's informed me that I picked up some Mollescum Contagiosum warts. Their tiny, first appeared around the sides of the scrotum, now I have one right below the helmet and one right on the shaft of the penis. I have been informed that they are contageous and I could very well have gotten them sexually transmitted to me. Funny part is, my doctor, at the time, ceased to tell me that normal warts are contageous, and that warts can't be picked up in a blood test. So for another year I had sex with about 11 girls. Only one unprotected. None of these women, including the one i've had unprotected sex with have received any of the problems that I have been having.

Unfortunately, this is the major problem at hand. I guess I've been over-examining my penis since I have been looking for a new wart every day so that I can get it burned sooner then later. After a night of examining I was at work the next day and could feel that the tip of my penis became incredibly sensitive. It is irritated to hell everytime it touches/grazes my underwear. I've switched clothing cleaning solutions, went out and bought cotton underwear. I bought the boxer briefs because it can hold it in place, but not to tight at the same time. Three days after the pain started I developed a ring around the tip of my penis. The size of a dime. Both my family doctor as well as my dermatologist keep telling me that it'll go away and that it's just irritated. They don't think it's herpes because I don't have any swollen glands, break-outs, fever, head-ache and my warts are Mollescum Contagiosum. At one point I figured it was a yeast infection. I used Monastat, NOOOOOOO DIFFERENCE. I used Canesten. Now, believe it or not, it felt a lot better, but it didn't look like the discoloration made any difference. I used it for a little over a week and a half. Now, I'm not using anything. It still feels raw, and worse. My doctors don't say this, but you can see it in their eyes. They think i'm crazy! It's been a month of hell and I'm going to emergency tonight. It's disgusting that it has resorted to this, but if I have this painful irritation for another day i'm gonna cut the half inch (red/irritated part) that I don't need, right off.

Definition of Insane: Thinking it's a yeast infection and knowing warts are contagious. Imagine not Masturbating, having sex, no beer, no alcohol, no skateboarding (cause it hurts to move), as well as no drumming. Sitting in your room, in the dark, playing video games because it's the only thing that will help forget the problem I have. I took away all those things and now I am not ME! I need help!!!!!!!!!

This sounds like irritation, not herpes.  There may not be any specific cause, but it's possible that you are allergic to the rubber in the penis sleeve.  My advice is to treat the condition with 1% hydrocortisone twice a day when it appears, and that you see a skin doctor to evaluate it.  You might also try avoiding use of rubber-containing products until you clarify matters.

Take care.

Am wondering if the pill is causing your wife to lubricate less. Do not know if that  is a side effect or not. Have you tried using a lubricant to see if that helps lessen the friction when you are having intercourse with her? Just a thought.
