Severe inch and resulting bleeding occurs infrequently on lower portions of legs

I have had a Dermotologist check and prescibe a medication called Efudex 5% which is a topical solution contained in a small tube--this appears to stop this problem over a period of 4 to 6 weeks but the inch will always periodically reappear in one or both areas of both of my legs between the top of my ankle to just below the knee--the Doctor states that I have a pre cancerous condition due to over exposure to sun so 2 years ago I cease to wear shorts during our summer period but this continues to reoccur--I have research the web and found there is another condition called Schamberg's Disease with similar symthons but no rust or brown areas occurs--I am planning to alert my Dermo Doctor to this condition--Cortison 10 oitment OTC does retard this condition but nothing ever totally stops this --this began about three years ago when I was 67 years of age--I am very active maintaining a 3 acre lawn and play golf as often as possible during the warm season as I live in North Missouri--can you please give any other remedies of advise other types of treatment?  should I change to another specialist?  Thanks bob C

I must say I am skeptical of the diagnosis of sun damage on the legs.  There can be sun damage there, of course, but I have never used Efudex anywhere but the face and arms.  I think your suggestion of Schamberg's Disease is very sensible.  I suggest you get another opinion.

Take care.
