MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
First of all, choose a non perfumed hypoallergenic shaving foam/cream and after applying it shave in the direction of the hair growth. After shaving apply ice(wrapped in a towel) and some calamine lotion on the skin which helps in soothing. You can also take some over the counter anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen after shaving. For the next few days, you can exfoliate at regular intervals with a mild scrub.
Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.

I am not a doctor but this happens to me.  I would put lotion on it.  I guess a fragrance free one would be the best.  I use a trimmer instead so it don't get ingrown hairs.  If you don't want to that try doing it in the shower.
