A unilateral rash with pain would favour Hzoster which sometimes may not present with typical bisters. But then localized bites can sting equally as bad to cause some confusion.only visual evidence some times helps, but then in zoster there are clusters, that would differentiate it.
Hello,
Shingles is an infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which is the virus that causes chickenpox. Shingles occurs in people who have had chickenpox and represents a reactivation of the dormant varicella-zoster virus. The first sign is usually a tingling feeling, itchiness, or stabbing pain on the skin. After a few days, a rash appears as a band or patch of raised dots on the side of the trunk or face.
It is unusual but possible to have shingles without blisters.I would suggest to get it confirmed from a dermatologist.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
