Thanks for getting back to me. In answer to your questions:
The red marks are mostly flat but running a finger over them you can feel that they are there slightly.
They are all presented as scratches - thin lines as if something with claws has scratched the skin. Looking closely, the most obvious marks are further underneath my legs, while there are some fainter ones more towards the top.
They don't itch at all.
They vary in size. Some are a couple of centimeters while the longest are about 5cm. They are about 0.5 cm in width.
They tend to be dark red down the centre and then fade towards the edge I would say.
The presentation of the lesions appear to be atypical. Unless it is secondary to a hypersensitivity reaction , I do not have a precise differential for it.
This may be due to a hypersensitivity reaction to an unknown allergen or a fungal infection. In the absence of itchiness however, I can not really tell if an eczematous component is also present.
I suggest that you have a stool examination done. Also a culture from skin scrapings in the involved areas (if applicable) may help.
Are you applying any medications in the area lately?
With regards to your other symptoms of a burning sensation in the groin and upper leg, this may be due to an underlying nerve related problem. The marks may not need any further intervention. When you say with "regards to the ache" ,what do you mean? I believe you have not mentioned this in your previous posts.
Do keep us posted for anything. Stretch marks should not present with pain.Do avoid unnecessarily scratching or applying anything on the area as this may cause further irritation which may lead to thickening of the skin and discolorations.
I'm sorry I didn't give an update before, but I went to the doctor about the aching in the groin area and he seemed to think everything was OK. I gave a urine sample to be tested for Chlamydia again and again the results haven't come back positive. Since my last visit I have not been feeling too bad. I have been under the impression that that it could be linked to a lack of exercise which may not help matters.
However, this past week I have been having different problems, as I have been feeling tired all the time, despite having an above average amount of sleep and I've been feeling hungry soon after meals when I normally wouldn't.
these are most likely caused by a fungal infection. I have also talked to many doctors, none of which seem to think it is anything other than stretchmarks. Go buy a fungal cream and apply daily. The scars will remain but you should not have any new breakouts in the area. It amazes me that after so many years of school for a phd that most doctors can't diagnose simple fungal infections.
Are these red marks you refer to in the groin area flat or elevated?
Are they large areas or do they only present as "scratches"?
Are these areas itchy?
Do they scale?
Do they have well demarcated reddish borders ?
Are you diabetic?
Any known allergies?
Do keep us posted with your answers.

I will book an appointment with my doctor and see what they say, although I'm worried they might say it's nothing to worry about when it is!
I don't take any medication of any kind and I haven't applied any kind of products to the area either.
This should offer some relief.
