Skin Burn

Skin Burn

Can someone help with skin question right away regarding skin healing after a chemical peel burn? It has been taking a long time to heal and I am worried what to do. In the beginning it was just burnt crusty dead skin that was stuck to the skin and took forever to get all the dead skin off like 3 months. Then I was trying to grow new skin but it kept coming off cause I had it too moist with vaseline and vitamin e oil. It was all red and sore. My husband finally told me to leave it alone and let it crust to grow new skin. I did that and left it be for 7 weeks without that stuff. Then I noticed lots of flaking and crusting off of the sore. It has flaked for a long time. Then recently it started to look like scar tissue so I went to using vit e oil again and cocoa butter cream and lotion to smooth it out. It was looking better for two weeks, but now I think I over moisturized and the white skin in a few areas has made dents in a few spots and the whole wound is not completely even and I am worried the skin will come off or something again. I am going to leave it alone again and not put anything on it for awhile. Is this the right thing to do and why is it taking so long to heal? It has been 6 months since the initial burn and it was from lactic acid chemical peel under my lip area and part of the lipline was burned, so it is a tough area to fix and I am worried the lip line will never look right. What should I do now?

Hi clakes,

Sorry you have been having a bad time with this :(

I would like to suggest pure aloe vera gel to you, the reason i suggest this is because aloe vera gel is fantastic in healing skin, it is also soothing, reduces redness, is a natural anti bacterial, and makes the skin lovely and soft.... at the same time it will not make your skin too 'wet' either.

I love aloe vera gel for all sorts of things I could go on telling you about it forever lol instead I will post you this link which has lots of usual information about aloe vera

http://www.ehow.com/how_5173092_use-gel-its-many-benefits.html

Although it suggests using the aloe straight from the plant here, if you prefer you can buy tubes of aloe vera gel from a health store.

I really hope this helps you.
Kind Regards, Dee.

Hello,
It looks like contact dermatitis and carpet burns. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Application of mild corticosteroid cream and oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful. If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
