by Unkown, Jan 21, 2008 10:29PM
Hi i am a 16 year old female and for about a month and a half i been having these dry patches on both my hands and of both sides of my neck....The dry patches on my hands are located between the thumb and the index finger and it feels dry ,rough,Itchy and on some occasion it burns and then once it feels burn the area that is burning Turns red. The same Applies to the neck but the neck does not bother as much as the ones on my hands But instead the neck looks purple ish but it looks similar to a hickey but it feel dry and is very wide ..I Applied a certain cream that is used for diaper rash to see if it can do some help and It actualy does... the redness goes down and itchyness stops for a while..but at the same time i tried to look up my symtoms online and i saw a photo of somebodys hand and it looks almost exactly like mines and it was skin cancer which actually worried me alot .....i am  Scheduled to see the dermatologist Tomorrow To See Whats going on with my skin .....Any Suggestions On what It May Be?

sounds like eczema, try some cortisone ointment. Skin cancer is very doubtful.
Don't use pictures on the net to self diagnose! You will become a hypochondriac.
The area you are describing is a common place for eczema and it usually causes problems in the winter months. Don't use soap or hot water. Use Dove and hydro cortisone cream.
