Several years ago I traveled to Central and Southern India in the hottest season (the hottest temps I have ever experienced). During this time a skin eruption of blisters appeared on my left hand, mostly confined to my index finger but spreading slightly to other fingers as well. When I returned to cooler weather, the eruption crusted over and flaked off. Since the initial eruption every year the temperature rises to 75-80 degrees F the eruption reappears like clockwork. Then when the temperature drops it disappears as I describe above. If the temp rises and falls in a given year; the eruption comes and goes along with the temperature. Any idea what this is & how to treat it?
One possibility for your symptoms can be pompholyx. It is characterized by a sudden onset of many deep-seated pruritic, clear vesicles which itch and then peel off. As a result the skin may also fissure.
Apply some calamine lotion on the affected area and keep the area well moisturized. Use only thin applications of moisturizer ointments as excessive amounts of ointment may restrict breathing of the skin and aggravate the condition.
Topical steroids can be applied but they are available under prescription. Moreover to prevent infection, topical antibiotics may be needed. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated.
