Skin Rash

I have a skin rash in palms of my hands,lower legs(where socks touch them)and around my waist where underwear and tight belt irritate.after severe scratching bumps become blisters that when popped they yield clear liquid.  Weeks ago I had jock itch but this seems to no longer be a problem. I suspect sun poisoning from sailing this summer, flu shot last week, or possible unbalanced chemicals from hot tub (now drained). this condition has persisted for a week now..neither lanocaine or solarcane  seem to help, only using Orajel gives tempory relief. I am 55 yr old white male,I hardly ever go to a doctor, What do I do?Thanks

The locations you list are not consistent with infection.  Sun poisoning affects exposed areas, not skin under socks or belt.  Chemicals rarely cause rashes of any sort.  Infections from hot tubs can produce big red psutules all over the body.

This may be an eczema of some sort, but not an obvious one.  I think you will need to see a doctor for diagnosis, allergy testing if indicated, and treatment with a prescription-strength topical cortisone.

Hmmm . Sounds like good old fashioned scabies to me. Scabies tend to go to all the areas you have mentioned.

Why don't you let the doctor decide what this might be instead of creating unnecessary fear for this person who's already worried obviously.  

People come here to get their questions answered "by the doctor" and most are very concerned and worried already.   Unless you can help them, without creating fear, keep your comments to yourself.

  I thankyou for your comment Ginger,however scabie's is nothing to fear unless you don't know what it is,but most people do know and there is relatively a quick cure . I was hoping to actually give the guy something simple to focus on, instead of letting his mind wonder about  MANY other complicated disease process's .

However, "assuming" that "most people know what scabies are" is the issue here.  Perhaps, you could have educated the reader with more explanation of what scabies are.  

As far as this forum, we all know doctor Rockoff is the only doctor here.  Everyone else will be counted as readers, whether they claim to be a doctor or not.

BSLTHOMP I went to the doctor I have follicalihis-inflamation and some infection of the hair follicals. i AM ALLERGIC TO CHLORINE AND ELASTIC..treatment is 1.return to bromine in hot tub. 2.take cephalexin 3x per day. 3.apply 2.5% cortizone 2x day. 4.take zyrtec 10mg once per day "if flar up re occurs consider throwing out underwear, bathing suit, & never use chlorine bleach again(especially on items with elastic)Thanks Dr Rockof
