Skin bumps/growths on top of feet, toes, ankles and top of inner thighs below groin

Some years ago I had noticed a few bumps/growths on the top of my feet (sort of middle of the insteps). These were VERY small (1/16th of an inch in diameter), not that visible (my natural skin tone) I went to a dermatologist and he passed it off as simple kerotoid (sp) eruptions and down played their importance. He also seemed irritated that I would care to have them removed. Flash forward a few years (or more) and they have clearly spread over the top of my foot, the ankles and top of my toes. I also believe this same low profile wart/bump has migrated to my upper inner thighs. They do not itch are virtually my skin tone but there presence and the fact that they are clearly multiplying (clustering?) is alarming not to mention becoming unsitely. Recently, I had gone to a Laser clinic to have skin tags removed and the technician noticed the bumps. On a subsequent vist, Laser Gal offered that she had described my problem to a Doctor friend of hers while at a seminar. He seemd to know immediately what it was and that its root cause originated in my nose as a crusty like lesion in the nostril which in time disappears but migrates and manifests itself as these bumps or eruptions on feet, ankles and other places like the inner thigh. I do not have the name of what he called the malady in front of me as I write this but I do remember that he suggested a 2% Bactroban ointment applied in the nostrils 2x daily would do the trick and actually kill whatever is "feeding" these things and promoting their spread and they would disappear in time. He suggested a rather long period of continued use of the Bactroban (2 months??) but when I looked Bactroban up most indications are that it be taken for only a week or so. To his credit I do remember quite awhile ago (predating the arrival of these things) having an unusual scab like crusty presence in one of my nostrils that lasted for a while and then disappeared. How's this all sound to you and do you have any thoughts or suggestions??

I have these small, flesh-colored bumps on my feet, ankles and tops of hands. They were diagnosed as Stucco Keratosis. I am a 34 year old woman, so wanted these gone because they were unsightly and I was embarrased by them. These are genetic (my dad has them as well). I've tried Salex lotion, Aldara, Amlactin, Keratol, Retin-A, and other prescription medications that did not work. Finally I went to a cosmetic dermatology laser clinic, and the doctor is removing them with an Erbium laser. They apply a numbing cream first for an hour, and then he lasers off the lesions. It is not painful, but a little bit uncomfortable. In the first treatment, he removed 100 lesions from my feet. My feet are a mess right now (sore and spotted with scabs) but I hope then when these scabs heal, my skin will be improved. The stucco keratosis should not reappear where he has burned them off, but they will most likely appear in other areas. I anticipate that the laser treatments will be a yearly thing so that I can keep them under control.
No OTC or prescription creams worked for me. I was starting to lose hope that I would ever find a way to get rid of these spots. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is the solution I've been looking for.

I have the same thing.  They are flat and about the same color as my skin, although some of them are a little darker.  They started on my ankles, now they are on my ankles, feet, inner thighs and hands.  I've to two dermatoloists.  One sad that it was warts but did not recommend freezing them off because he said that it usually leaves skin discoloration in black people.  The other doctor said that it wasn't warts.  I can't quite remember what he said it was.  He gave me a prescription lotion that did not work.

I have the exact same condition on my feet, ankles and hands and am frustrated that the doctors neither know what it is or care to offer advice on getting rid of them.

Stucco keratoses. A clinico-pathological study.

Abstract

Stucco keratoses are benign acquired papular warty lesions which usually occur on the distal parts of the lower limbs of elderly men. Their nature and pathogenesis are uncertain. Eight patients with multiple stucco keratoses who presented to the Cardiff Dermatology Department over an 18-month period were studied in an attempt to characterize these lesions. All subjects were male, with ages ranging from 50 to 72 years. Their lesions were most numerous over the fronts of the lower legs, but were also evident over other areas of the limbs. Most patients had a history of prolonged solar exposure, but the relationship of this to the development of the lesions was uncertain. Histologically there were no dysplastic changes and a characteristic regular 'church spire' type retention hyperkeratosis without marked acanthosis was evident. Lack of a marked increase in the epidermal cell population size is reflected in the normal in vitro tritiated thymidine autoradiographic labelling indices (7.81 +/- 1.67%, normal range 5 to 9%). Ultrastructurally no viral particles were evident and a normal pattern of epidermal differentiation with hypergranulosis was present. Two of the patients with myriads of lesions who were treated for 2 months with etretinate showed a dramatic clinical improvement which, however, lasted for 6 months only.

I too have these and have seen two dermatologist who both told me it's a inherited skin condition that is overgrowth of skin that is noticed on feet, hands and back of arms. I forgot the name but both doctors told me as embarrassing as they are, there's absolutely nothing you can do as it's just skin!!! I hate them and I have a horrible case!!! Yuck

Seems like not related to a virus.  "Ultrastructurally no viral particles were evident"  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1678235

I am 55 and noticed the bumps starting to show up on my lower ankles about two years ago.  They have now started popping up on my upper thighs so I saw your post and have decided to get the cream you used on your son.  I didn't see where you posted if it worked for you but for $15 I am willing to give it a try.  I will let you know if it works on my ankles, upper feet and thighs.  I appreciate your submission because until now I had thought that I was just losing my mind and had something that no one else had and it was scaring me a bit.  Just knowing that I am not the only one experiencing this has been good news for me!

Any luck beating this thing. I also have it. Started on my inner ankles, then feet, then the thighs. Had them removed and they returned and are worse.
Any luck ending this problem? I have it too and it is getting worse.

I have the exact same thing!  I'm 47.  First noticed a few small spots on the tops of my feet.  Now spread to my ankles and tops of my hands.  I had the same crusty nose sore thing too awhile back but it went away.  My dermatologist keeps giving me this Mometason Furoate Cream 0.1% and tells me it is just dry skin.  It doesn't help at all.  I'm very self conscious of these bumps and want them gone!  Help!

I am 49 and have stucco keratosis, as well.  My Dad has them but just a handful of the spots. Unfortunately, I have them covering my feet and ankles and now up my calves, thighs and arms.  So gross!  I have tried multiple treatments and nothing has worked. I used to love summer and now I dread having to wear shorts or sandals.
If anyone tries something that works, please post!

Hello, I would like to pose a question.  Do any of you have high cholesterol? I too have these bumps and so does my brother, he was told by a doc recently I t was cholesterol bumps? I too have high cholesterol but refuse to take the statin drugs they keep prescribing. Please respond with your answers and maybe we can get to the bottom of these frustrating bumps. Namaste

My son had warts on his inner thighs and the doctor suggested getting them lasered off and said he would have scars - since he was only 4 I did not want to put him through that so I looked for a natural method to get rid of the warts - I used Thuja cream, 2x a day for a bout 2 weeks.  The warts dried up and fell off - left no scars and never came back.

I just noticed a few bumps on the tops of my feet similar to what everyone is describing - I am going to try the Thuja and report back

I have them as well.  Noticed them about 5-6 years ago on my inside ankles.  I'm 43 now.  I remember my father having the same thing, only more pronounced.  I can only assume mine will develop to look like his did.  So far mine have not spread anywhere else, at least that I've noticed.  I have not mentioned it to my dermatologist because it seems from what I've read that none of them know what it is anyway.  My father went to the derm.. for it and got the same response.  I've ignored it for a while hoping it would go away, but it's very noticeable now and I'm kinda concerned..

My father has terrible skin and Im afraid i"ll get as bad. It is worse during winter months when skin is dryer. If anyone has any info of getting rid of this I would like to know.
Thanks.
