Skin irritation after crying or being worried too much?

Hello,
I have a question, my mom has this irritation that shows up after she crys, or has a nervous breakdown, or whenever shes really worried about someone.

The symptoms are on the face, cheeks, and forehead. What happens is the face starts to get red and a burning sensation arises shortly after.

She went to the skin doctor, and he says it could be rosasea but he is not sure why it burns, because the symptoms of rosasea should not burn. Also, he said it does not look like rosasea, but she keeps getting it.

Any ideas, or clue what it could be?

I get this from my own tears. I also get sinus problems akin to hay fever. I always have. I need antihistamine every time I cry.

Hello,
I would just like to add, that its not only from tears, its also stress. Like the above post mentioned, she could be really stressed and get the same irritation as described above.

Could that be what you described above, or something else?

Hi,
Thos could be due to an allergic reaction to the tears since there are cases where a person can be allergic to their own sweat.
Or it could be a Contact dermatitis caused by the chemical composition of the tears.
Contact dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin caused by direct contact with an irritating or allergy-causing substance (irritant or allergen). Reactions may vary in the same individual over time.
Irritant dermatitis, the most common type of contact dermatitis, involves inflammation resulting from contact with acids, alkaline materials such as soaps and detergents, solvents, or other chemicals. The reaction usually resembles a burn. She can wash her face immediately after crying to minimize contact between face and tears. Also application of  Calamine lotion to soothe the irritation.
Since the episodes are brief there is no need for medication.

Yes, I recognise that problem because the area around my eyes seriously burns and gets red after I cry. Also, when I'm stressed about my exams I get loads of rashes. Thats because I have eczema. Try to find out if your mum has eczema. The chemicals in her tears could be irritating her skin and stress is one of the main triggers of many skin disorders, such as eczema
