Skin irritation on side of waist

I am wondering what is wrong with the left side of my waist that is causing me a lot or itchy irritation.  It is right about and above where my pants hang from.   I have had it for a couple weeks now and is very irritated.  It sometimes is very red, itchy and has some bumps, and gives the appearance of a rash.  It doesn't hurt at all but is very itchy sometimes.  I dont think its Shingles, since I am not in pain.  It is only in a area about the size of an orange.  I have allergies occasionally but I have never had anything in the past.  Right now I have been using an anti-bacterial ointment and baby powder to subdue the itching and irritation for the time being.  I shower daily and clean thoroughly as well.   I am going to be visiting the doctors office soon, but I am curious as to what it could be.  My guess that is possibly heat rash.  I sometimes sweat around the waist but who knows.  If anyone has any advice for me that would be great!  Thank you!

I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be  contact dermatitis, sweat dermatitis, heat rash or shingles. Apply some calamine lotion and take some antihistaminic like Benadryl. Also apply a mild steroid cream on the rash. If the symptoms persist then please get an evaluation done from a dermatologist.
