Skin issue in nose... very worried...

Hello. Years ago, I had a skin-tag projection in my nose. I could see this from the
outside and actually removed the skin myself. I know this was terrible to do, but blame
it on being young and careless at the time. Well, I constantly have allergies, and had a
sinus bug a few weeks ago. I typically feel like I have a stuffy nose, or achy nose and
have noticed this more often than normal on the left nostril-the same area where the old
skin thing was. Well, since clearing my nose hasn't really helped much, I decided to
manually feel into my nasal area to see if I had a scab or something going on. Right away
I did remove a bit of dry flat mucous, but didn't feel a scab. However, I felt a fleshy
area or lump at the top of my nasal. Pressing down on my nose, actually feels sore to the
touch because of this growth. I am really worried and am 6 weeks pregnant. Is this normal
or should I go to the ENT immediately. I keep thinking the worst, and wonder if they
could even do anything at this point. Could one possibly have a wart or something benign
in this region? It feels fleshy, hard like a small lump. I tried looking at it with a
mirror, but wasn't sure if I could see anything. One side of my nose looked darker, but I
can't tell if it was just the lighting in the house. Also, an ENT did check my nose 2 yrs
ago and didn't see anything out of the norm, but I think things can grow rapidly at any
time. Also, if it could be benign, is there anything over the counter I can try before
going to the ENT to see if could be cleared? Thanks."

Hi,
If what you felt was a lump soft in consistency then it could be a polyp, which is quite common in cases of allergic sinusitis.
Nasal polyps are polypoidal masses arising mainly from the mucous membranes of the nose and paranasal sinuses. They are overgrowths of the mucosa that frequently accompany allergic rhinitis. They are freely moveable and non-tender.

Nasal polyps are most commonly thought to be caused by allergy. They are most often treated with steroids, topical or oral, but can also be treated with surgical methods. The removal of nasal polyps via surgery lasts approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. The surgery is done under anesthesia, and the polyps are removed telescopically. Recovery from this type of surgery is anywhere from one to three weeks.

If this is indicated, it can be done even after the duration of the pregnancy. You can be treated on oral medications and possibly, a nasal spray till then. You would have to consult an ENT doctor to confirm this first.
