Skin rash on penis

Hopefully Dr. Rockoff this will be the last question. Two parts:

First you made mention that "If the dermatologist needs to do a test, rubbing with a cotton swab would be all that's needed. " My question: Can he culture out bacteria/yeast etc from a swab and why would he possibly want to do a "scraping"

Second, please log onto this web site: www.herpes-coldsores.com/std/yeast_infection_pictures.htm.

My penis looks very similar to the top picture on this site. And this is a yeast infection which I think I possibly have. (My dermatologist doesn't know). Your comments????

Of that's what it looks like, yeast is possible.  Why not get some over-the-counter clotrimazole cream, which is a respectable anti-yeast cream.  That will help clarify the matter and may clear you up.  A yeast culture can be done with a cotton swab.  Painless.

Best.
