Small pimples in pubic area?

Small pimples in pubic area?

4034860?1235695685
Last week, i had sex (protected) with a girl who i had never been with.  2 days later, i noticed a rash-like break out in my pubic hair area.  They are small red dots scattered around, and some of them developed white tips like that of a pimple.  Not really any itching, or pain, just aesthetically unpleasing.  I did some research and i suspect it might be folliculitis??  Not really sure by any means though.  Can these "break outs"  occur from extensive friction during sex (her on top "grinding").  Any input will be much appreciated.

Bobby

Hello,

I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be folliculitis. Folliculitis is the inflammation of one or more hair follicles. The condition may occur anywhere on the skin.

Folliculitis starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing or blockage of the follicle. In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph).

Pls keep the area clean and apply some warm compresses. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case. Also other possibilities like rash due to friction rub, sweat dermatitis, contact dermatitis etc have to be ruled out.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted if you have any additional queries.

Thank you very much for your input.  I will be setting up an appointment with my doctor tomorrow to have him take a look.  A few more questions:

1.  Should i pop the white heads?  Or leave them alone?

2.  Can this be spread to my sexual partner?

3.  Is it harmful to pull the hair out of the follicle that is affected?

Thanks,

Bobby

Hello,

To all the three questions, the answer is no.Pls don’t try to pop them as it will lead to introduction of infection and aggravation of the condition. If the bumps are due to folliculitis then they are non contagious and also pls don’t try to pick the bumps or the hair.Application of warm compresses and topical antiseptics is the mainstay of treatment.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.Kind regards.

Did you ever find out what this was? I came across about the same thing you were asking about except I didn't get it after having sex. the last time I had sex was about a month and a half before i noticed the problem you have. If you can get back to me on whatever it was that you found out I would appreciate it.
