Small red patch of flaky skin on my cheekbone?

Small red patch of flaky skin on my cheekbone?

Ok, since November I've had this patch of skin that gets flaky and is red, about the size of a pea. It doesn't hurt at all nor does it itch. It never goes away. I though maybe I got it from using my facial scrub, but after discontinuing use it still had not gone away. If I don't touch it for a couple days-IE(wash it or anything) it gets the flaky skin, which doesn't look very pleasant and can easily be removed. I also remember one time I tried getting rid of a black head that was in that area and some skin may have flaked off. I don't know what to do about it and I just wanted to know if this sounds like anything to anyone.

Hello,
It sounds like seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp. under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium.

If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist.
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
