Small shoulder bumps

I have two small bumps that feel like they are under the skin on my left shoulder. They could be bites but they are not itchy. Any ideas?

Doctor said the small bumps are nothing to worry about. They feel like cysts that have formed from either an ingrown hair or bug bite.

Hi,

Without redness, pain , itchiness and discharge, this does not sound like an infection. Other differentials  based on what you have posted is a lipoma. Lipoma may occur in areas of the body where fat content is quite considerable like the back, chest and arms. The lumps may be a little doughy, a bit painful or tingling although this is not true in all cases.

This does not sound like this needs urgent intervention. The lump has not increased in size or changed in character?

Let us wait for your dermatologic appointment. A complete physical examination will help guide you and shed light on what you have.

At this point, do not worry too much. I know you are highly anxious about this.Do keep us posted regarding physician’s advise.

Any ideas as to what they may be? I do have an appt with a dermatologist next Wednesday and to also look at a mole for removal.

Thanks, I worry a lot over little things and just wondered if you have any idea at all what these 2 tiny bumps could possibly be.

No trauma to the area. I do lift weights 2 X per week and run 4 X per week so I am very active.
The little bumps are just located on the the side of the arm about 1 1/2 inches below the top of the shoulder. No redness, you can only feel them. No scaling or discharge.

Hi,

These bumps that are palpable from beneath the skin may be sebaceous cysts .They also may be comedones or nodular forms of acne. However ,you have noted them to be  painful nor do they present with redness (is this correct?).

Sebaceous cysts are usually noted on "the scalp, ears, back, face, and upper arm,...though they may occur anywhere on the body except the palms of the hands and soles of the feet."

If there is no redness or pain over the area, this may not be something urgent. Nor does this sound infectious. Just avoid picking on the area to avoid any infection. Also, try to observe for any changes.Any rapid swelling, pain and discharge in the area may warrant further evaluation.

Was there any previous trauma to the area?

Any scaling or discharge present over the bumps?
