by Nikitha911, Oct 31, 2009 10:19AM
Hello Doctor,

I have a small tag of skin near the anal which is not causing any pain and i have this since 5 to 6 years and no problem at all.Is it piles? As per my understanding incase of piles there is a lot of pain while passing stools.I do not have any such problem.Want to know if it is harmful? And also want to know how to get rid of that small tag of skin.
Request you to let me know the details.

Skin tag is benign skin growth and is found due to friction rub or hormonal changes in the body. The treatment options include removing with scissors by a doctor, freezing (using liquid nitrogen), burning (using medical electric cautery) and laser removal.
My sincere advice is to consult a dermatologist and discuss these with him. If it is growing in size, then it has to be removed because if injured it can lead to bleeding.
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how your daughter is doing or if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
