HerpeticHerpetic stomatitis lesions do present with blisters and vesicles and they do have a reddish background. They may present with some degree of tingling and burning. The sensation may provide some degree of discomfort. If the warm bath relieves this, then you may continue doing so. You may use gloves when washing your husband’s feet. Make him understand that we do not want this to spread especially if you also tend to children at home. If this is a bacterial infection, there are OTC topical antibiotics that may be used.
If this is fungal and viral ,then this may be something which may resolve and recur given the proper triggers. Your husband may opt to wear open sandals but just avoid unnecessarily touching or scratching the area.
A dermatitis may be a differential here also given its chronicity and recurrent pattern. It is also noted not to respond to antibiotics
How would you describe these sores?
