Spot where a hair follicle starts in the pubic area?

There is a spot on my the top part of my pubic hair, and there is a hair coming out. this is the first time there has ever been anything unusual down 'there' but its no particulary painful but if its caught it does become sore, its been there for about a week. it has a head like a usual spot. and if i get a spot like that on my face i pop it. do i pop that spot, im confused as there is a hair follicle coming out. does this sound familiar? i was thinking either herpes or hair follicle infection?

From the symptoms it looks like an infected hair follicle or boil. Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case.
