Spots/ Minocyclin

Spots/ Minocyclin

Hi all,

Last year I had blemishes all over my face and my dermatologist suggested I should take Minocyclin (50mg) for few months or until they dissapear. After few days of use blemishes and black spots were totally gone!! Not a single one!! Then I stoped it.
Now I have blemishes again and I was thinking to start Minocylin again. Although could someone tell me for how long should I take them so blemishes wont appear again?  On top of that, I am suffering hair loss, doctor said its from stress and I take some vitamins and Regaine (5%).. Can I start Minocyclin while I take the other drugs? I worried that one of the side effects of Minocyclin is hair loss.. Hair loss appeared few months after I stoped Minocyclin. Are these two linked together? Can I start it again and if so for how long?

Any advice is welcome!!

Thanx

Hello,
Alopecia or hair loss is a side effect of minocyclin. So I would advice you not to take it without a dermatologist’s prescription. For the blemishes, use  hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment. Please discuss these options with your dermatologist before using them.
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
