Spread of genital warts(hpv)

Can genital warts spread to other places on the body once you have them? I.e. Mouth, fingers. If so is there anyway to stop them from multiplying?

Warts are tumours or growths of the skin caused by infection with Human Papillomavirus (HPV).They are contagious when in contact with the skin of an infected person. It is also possible for warts to spread on the body by touching the active lesion and then touching the other parts of the body.
