Staph/mrsa

Ok, another forum .......
A few weeks ago my puppy scratched my arm pretty good.  My skin is really thinning the past year ( I am only 62) so she did a number!  I immediately cleaned it and had been keeping Neosporin on it.  About 2 1/2 weeks later, I saw a small pustule above it and nor on my side just above my bra line.  Broke both of those, cleaned the areas and applied Neosporin.  Oh the initial scrated was oozing a bit.  Next day the one on my arm was filled up again so called my PCP.  He did a culture, prescribed generic Bactrim and generic Bactroban.  I did as instructed and just finished the Bactrim. ( good thing I took it! I hate taking meds). Anyway, doctor called me this evening to say it was Staph/MRSA and the Bactrim was the right antibiotic.  Scared the hell out of me ( ESP with all the news coverage of that poor girl).  So it is about 3 weeks out with this and he said if it were going to get worse, would have done so by now.  I noticed just today that where he took the culture there is a very small pustule coming up.  The original scratch and the one under my arm seem to be healing.  He told me to pop the new one, wash it and keel the Bactroban on it.  Dudn't seem concerned.  I had been sick earlier in the week Uoset stomach, no fever, but I have other issues I deal with nobody can diagnose)   I did make an appt to see my dermatologist on Monday to look at my arm but am mainly concerned about scaring.
Anyway, just wondering if my PCP has given me the right advice.  He says they see a lot of this now.
Thanks

Thank you for your response.  The pustule was cultured by my PCP and it was Staph/MRSA.  He had started me on the Bactrim right away then told me that was the right antibiotic. Mi do, however, have an appt. with a Dermatologist on Monday.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
You should consult a dermatologist and get the rash cultured. The sample should be sent for culture sensitivity and then specific antibiotics need to be started which are sensitive for the infection.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
