I recently thought my boyfriend and i had staphStaph aureus food poisoning infection and so i went to an urgent care to find out. He Diagnosed me with something called Folliculitis and he also perscribed me with medicine for staphStaph aureus food poisoning as a "Just in case." I looked up folliculitis on the internet, and it said that it is contagious and that could explain how my boyfriend has it as well. i started taking my medicine yesterday, but i'm not sure if i'm being paranoidParanoid personality disorder Paranoid schizophrenia Schizophrenia - paranoid type or not, because i'm still scared that its staphStaph aureus food poisoning infection. When should i start worrying about this? are their symptoms that i would have with staphStaph aureus food poisoning that i wouldn't have with Folliculitis? Does my boyfriend need to go to the doctor?? It's causing me a lot of pain.
Medical therapy may readily control folliculitis. It is contagious so I suggest that you refrain from any direct contact until your condition has been treated. Unless , the infection spreads and becomes extensive as in the case of decreased immune responses , then there is really no cause of worry.
If your boyfriend presents with similar symptoms , then he may also need to be assessed and managed .
thank you! so will this anti-biotic that he has me on take care of things? about how long until i notice a difference? are their any topical creams i can put on it, or anything to ease the pain??
I understand your concern. Folliculitis is a skin infection which involves the hair follicles. It is a skin infection caused by Staphyloccocus aureus. So the Staph infection you were referring to and the folliculitis are actually one.
