Strange Bump

Hi Dr. Rockoff,

I have had an odd bump in my pubic area for the last month.  It's small - maybe 3-4 mm in diameter, solitary.  It does not itch or hurt, but it sometimes gets a little abraded against my clothes.  It's flesh colored, except at the top which seems a little scaly...if I rub it some a few white flecks will sometimes come off.

This is a picture of it:

I have been monogamous for the past 2 years, but as I had a period of relative promiscuity for about a year before that, I am wondering if this is anything sexually transmitted.

Thanks for your help.

Hard to be sure from the picture, but it looks as though it could be a wart.  Warts on the penis are generally considered to be sexually transmitted, but it isn't possible to say when they were contracted.  Either way, you should see a doctor.  If needed, one treatment should suffice.

Best.
