Strange Hair growing out of my leg

by jill01, Jun 18, 2003 12:00AM
A few months ago I noticed what I thought was a sliver in my leg (quadricep) - I thought what a strange place for a sliver - it was hard and grey and somewhat sharp.  So I tweezed it out.  About 5 weeks later another smaller one showed up in the exact same follicle so I tweezed it out as well, noticing it was shaped like a hair, but again was hard, light grey and somewhat mis-shapen.  It has come back twice more about every 5-6 weeks.  Normally, the hair on my quads is quite fine and light brown/blond and I don't shave there often.  What could this thing be?  A fungus of some sort?

Thanks

I honestly don't know.  It could be that the hair in that foolicle has a different appearance, or perhaps tweezing has modified the follicle somewhat.  It certainly isn't a fungus.

I advise you to show either your skin or the material you tweezed (or both) to a doctor in person.  Meantime, though, I'd stop tweezing.  no need.

Best.
