Sudden Appearance of Itchy Vaginal Rash

So, I got my period last Sunday. February 7th. A few days after I got my period, a rash appeared around my vagina. At first it just kind of stung when I peed but then it started to kind of itch. My period has been kind of weird this week too. Usually I have a heavy flow but for some reason I'm like a medium flow. I thought that the rash was just a random thing that would go away or maybe because my mom has started air drying all our clothes or something, and it went away last night into today. But now all of a sudden it's itching like crazy and the rash is a dark red now. I poured Johnson and Johnson baby powder all over it and into my pad so I'm hoping that'll help. Can anyone give me an idea on what might be the cause?
