Sudden and rapid hair loss

Sudden and rapid hair loss

Hi,
I had my hair dyed permanenently for the first time at the end of July. The color came out unevenly, so the stylist had to do the roots twice. About 2 days later when I washed it, I noticed an extreme amount of hair came out, some in small clumps. Since then, I have been losing my hair at a very rapid pace, when I put my fingers through it, several strands always fall out, there is always hair on my pillow, bed and all over my clothes. It continues to come out in large quantities in the shower no matter how gentle I am with it. I have always had very thick and healthy hair (medium length), and now it seems like it is half the volume it used to be. It is particularly noticeable around my face and in the back, but I can see bald spots diffusely throughout. At the same time, I have been under a lot of stress for the past few months, but stress has NEVER caused me hair loss. I also underwent in vitro fertilization in June (unsuccessfully) but I had NO hair loss until I had my hair dyed. I am so scared that my follicles were damaged by the hair treatment..what is your opinion of what is going on? What can I do to stop it?

Thank you..
