Sudden non-itchy bumps on my daughter

My10 yr. old daughter had red bumps show up on her tummy and arm yesterday.  I thought they were mosquito bites but this morning, these non-itchy bumps are spreading to her abdomen and buttocks.  She has no fever but was around a child with Croup last week. She had a cough and took her to urgent care to see a doctor. He tested her for Strep and it was negative. He told me to give her honey or Benadryl. I gave her Benadryl because it could be allergies.  This was the first time she ever took Benadryl.Could this be a reaction to the medication or something else.

Hello,
Such a rash which is present all over the body and is itchy can be due to viral infection or allergic reaction. Moreover your daughter is having symptoms of cough as well. Hence it looks like a viral infection which is causing these symptoms. Please get an examination done from a pediatrician to confirm the diagnosis. Till then apply calamine lotion on the itchy rash and give her acetaminophen if she is running fever.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hi, thanks for query.

This seems to be viral infection only. A t times due to some cross infection this can happen. Your doctor has suggested benedryl for allergy.  Continue the drug.  You can try applying some local lotion like lacto calamine over the area .There is no reason to worry; this should disappear in couple of days.

Wishing you good health.
