Sun Rash...

by gemgirlrocks, Jul 16, 2008 11:23AM
I had sun rashes plague me for about 31 years.  I spent alot of time in the sun growing up in s californina.  Also spent much time swimming in the ocean and in pools.  When I was 14 we moved away from the city to the high desert. It was the following summer that the sun rashes began. If I continued in the sun, after a base tan they would sometimes slow or go away. However with each exposure, it the initial reaction would become more severe. I began to question what was causing this. Nothing I tried, would make it go away.  Finally, about 2 years ago, I took some medications to kill what we thought might be yeast, after which I broke out in a horrible intense and strange itchy rash that lasted some 5 months non-stop.  My doctors were puzzled at the cause and gave me many creams and antihistamins. Non helped.  They suspected a parasite and gave me Ivermectin.  I had to take it 3 times. And each time noticed great improvement and relief.  That worked, the horrible itchy rash stopped.  The best part is a year later to my suprise, I went out into the sun and noticed I did not have any sun reaction.  I went out again and got sun purposely to test it, and no more itchy rashes!!! I am normal again. I suspect it is sometimes caused by a microscopic parasite infection and or maybe a dieoff reaction that our skin is allergic to when we are exposed to the sun that causes these rashes for some of us.  No one has ever confirmed this for me.   I hope this helps. Has any doctor out there seen this before?
