Sun rash

by jenny7883, Jun 26, 2009 07:14PM
Every spring for the last few years I get an itchy rash on my forearm.  It isn't red or hot just ichy and the further into summer it goes it gets worse and it looks like small blisters.  The sun and temperature changes make it really bad. Steroid creams don't work any more and I don't really know what it is anyway.  Does anyone else!

Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination, but it can be due to solar dermatitis or heat rash.

Avoid using any lotions and creams for the meantime. use a mild cleanser with moisturizing properties like Cetaphil. Also use cotton clothes and change the clothes twice if there is any increased sweating.Try keeping the skin free of sweat as far as possible. If the symptoms still persist then you can apply mild steroid like dermacort or calamine lotion. For the itching antihistaminics like Benadryl or Claritin can be taken. If the symptoms persist then a dermatologist’s evaluation will be the best.
I hope that helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
