I am a Boy Scout from Lawrence KS with a rash that does not make any sence. About 1 month ago, I was at a Boy Scout camp in Missouri in about 90 degree weather. About 2/3s the way through camp, I discovered a rash that had developed on my back. It was a redish type rash that was in big areas on my back. Then, one day later, the rash had a burning prikling type feeling that was painful
open one of the pores and said that it looked like follicutities and gave me enough stariods to last me through camp. I took a shower, and that helped. I only took one (forgot to take the rest). I kept burning for about 2 more days than stopped. About 2 weeks after camp, I noticed a bull-eyes type rash on my leg. At camp, I was bittened by a tick
. We went to the doctor and got a blood test for Lyme Disease. We waited for about 1 1/2 weeks when they finally called and said that the test was border line positive for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. I was put on Doxycycline, I think, for ten days. I did not take the medicane correctly though for I took with food for the first 4 days and did not take it at least 1 hour before food. Last weekend, I was at a scout camp in Kansas near KC, working out in the sun again in tall grass for 1/2 day. I took the medication and I got a bad sunburn on my arms, neck, and head, so we stopped the next morning. When I came home and took a shower, I noticed the same rash I had at summer camp before, but this time on my stomach. On the following Monday, I got on my bus after school, sat down, and the same burning pain I had at summer camp. We went back to the doctor and she said that it was was not follculitis, and said it was probally a reaction to the Doxycycline. She took me off it, but on Tuesday I was still having the same burning pain. I have been taking generic allergy medicene, but still burns. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!?!?!
i don't know if this will help, but i know that over the last 3 months my brother has some similar symptoms. we found out today he as Rocky Moutain Spotted Fever. the only thing i can tell you is to get a second opinion from another doctor. we had to go through 5 until they finally figured out what it was. good luck!
