Suntan that won't go away

Three years ago I got sunburned on my chest and legs and skin is still tan/discolored to this day, Is this normal

From the symptoms the possibilities of dermatitis skin and pityriasis versicolor needs to be ruled out. It is caused by a fungus that lives in the skin of almost all adults. Factors that can cause the fungus to become more visible include high humidity and immune or hormone abnormalities.Treatment involves topical and oral antifungal medicines.

I suggest you to get it examined from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis.
